Watershed Environmental Poetry Festival presents readings from Robert Haas, Maxine Hong Kingston, Camille Dungy, Tongo Eisen-Martin, Malcolm Margolin, Alison Luterman, Kim Shuck, Tess Taylor, and a ceremonial invocation led by Rafael Jesús González. The 2017 Filipino American International Book Festival presents Hot Off the Press, moderated readings. Free, 1:30 p.m., San Francisco Public Library.

Monday 10/9: Litquake presents “You Can’t Write That: Writing from Privilege,” a panel discussion on cultural appropriation with Faith Adiele, Vanessa Hua, Chad Koch, and Kaitlin Solimine, moderated by Maisha Z. Johnson. $10, 7 p.m., San Francisco Center for the Book.

Porchlight presents “Heroes,” a night of storytelling co-hosted by Arline Klatte and Beth Lisick with music by Marc Capelle, and poetry on the spot from Typewriter Rodeo. $20, 7 p.m., Swedish American Hall.

Tuesday 10/10: Yerba Buena Gardens Festival and Litquake present Poetic Tuesday with readings from Derrick Carr, Lee Herrick, Raina J. Leon, Sara Mumolo, and music from ContainHer.  Free, 12:30 p.m., Yerba Buena Gardens.
